The Arts Society Harborough has been involved in projects in the community, and is eager to support further projects to help make the arts accessible to more people.

If you know of a project or idea that our society could consider funding, please contact Jen Shailes either by email av.harborough@theartssociety.org, or speak with Jen at one of our meetings.

Recently we have supported the following:

Home-Start South Leicestershire

We have made a donation for the purchase of art materials for projects enabling children of all ages to be creative and engage in a variety of art and craft activities. Quite a few families attending Home-Start groups don’t have the confidence / ability to go to other groups or to send their children to nurseries, so being able to access these activities is definitely beneficial.

Jubilee Foodbank Market Harborough

Our donation for the purchase of art materials of all kinds was to benefit families who would perhaps not be in a position to go away on holiday. It is hoped to provide creative opportunities across the age ranges from young children through teenagers and into adulthood with a variety of artistic projects.

Market Harborough Public Art Trail

We have supported the work of Creative Harborough in their development of a public art trail in the town. Specifically the transformation of utility cabinets, and other small-scale public spaces, turning everyday infrastructure into pieces of public art. These bright, colourful designs reflect community stories and local heritage and are intended to encourage people to discover and engage with the town's history and communities.

The trail is free and curated with an online guide, and forms part of a longer term ambition to develop more public art across Harborough. Public art can transform ordinary places and tell us something about where we live. Information on the Art Trail can be found here

Perhaps you will be tempted to try the art trail, take a walk, discover a new part of the town, learn something else about the town, and have a dose of creativity on the go?
